Icon Hate If I 'stole' your icon, please provide proof that you are the LEGAL copyright holder and I will credit you. If it was a fan made icon of a film, television show, actor etc., SHUT THE FUCK UP. You stole the base photo when you demanded credit and are therefor guilty of theft and copyright infringement. You have no legal rights to the images. I am sick and tired of "icon police". There's a reason fan fictions require a disclaimer and why youtube videos are often taken down. If only you fucks would add that single line there would be no problem, and I would be more than happy to say "made by ____." If you'd like to report me for stealing 'your' icon, feel free. I'll even give you the link: here I'm sure they'd love to hear your claims. I'm very harsh on this sort of thing because I once had a short story stolen, considering I was 8 at the time I wrote it, I've of course remembered the event. I don't like it when people refuse to name sources for obvious reasons, and I really don't like "icon sharks." Copyright Law, even under the fair use clause is very specific for a reason. From what I have seen of "icon makers" of LJ, 98% of them DO NOT respect copyright law and refuse to even add a line of disclaimer. I would not be nearly as upset as I am if only they added that line. It is a legal matter and need I point out that all fan-fiction requires it. With proper credit given to the Owners of the Material, I have been know to fight for our rights as fans for vids and fics and until the icon makers take steps to protect themselves I will stand against them.
